McLaren P1 by the Numbers.

Aaaaaaand we’re back. We’ve just stumbled across some very interesting numbers, a few we knew already and many we didn’t. Let’s start with what we know. The McLaren P1 will produce 903 hp, [727 from the engine and 176 from KERS] and 723 tq [531 engine and 192 from KERS]. Careful with that instant torque. Jalopnik will be gracing us with “Save the P1″ T-shirts in no time.

As exciting as that info McLaren gave us last week is, it didn’t mean much without weight… Continue Reading →

A P1 in Paris

It’s over.  The moment we have waited twenty years for has come and gone.  While some of us were in Paris to enjoy the reveal firsthand, most of us were sitting at home hitting refresh again and again as if it was a new iPhone announcement.  InsideMcLaren’s invite was lost in the mail so we too understand your pain.  Have no fear.  McLaren, being the customer centric car company that they are, understands our needs and has quickly given us the next best thing.  YouTube videos!

McLaren Unveils the P12…as we see it.

Last month at Pebble Beach, select enthusiasts saw an image of McLaren’s up-and-coming hyper-car codenamed P12.  This weekend, a lucky few will glimpse the actual car while McLaren unveils the MP4-12C Spider in Europe at the Windsor Concours of Elegance.  At this point, informed insiders have taken to the internet to speak about it.  We’ve taken all the talk, rumors, official quotes, and likely guesses and compressed them into an entirely fictional InsideMcLaren Paris unveiling, ahead of Paris, for you.  We’ll know how far off, or close, we are on the 27th.

Twenty years after the McLaren F1 hit the streets, McLaren Automotive shakes up Paris and the world with the MP4-24C, codenamed P12. Continue Reading →

Paris P12 to be Extreme Example of Bespoke Hyper-car.

The McLaren P12 supercar concept set to star at Paris motor show later this month will go on sale in a limited edition.

The halo concept is being suggested in some media as the successor to Gordon Murray’s legendary McLaren F1, with thoughts the P12 working title may be changed to P1 – a tempting reference to pole position as well as an echo of the F1 nameplate.

McLaren of Chicago + MSO = Project Alpha

When I first saw the MP4-12C at its Pebble Beach unveiling in 2010 I was entirely underwhelmed.  For months I studied the photos of the car, examining every vent and curve.  Eventually I set it aside as a car that was not going to grow on me in the looks department.  About a year later a friend pulled up to my office in his brand new “Fire Black” McLaren.  I retired for the day and inspected the car for an hour as the sun was fading away.  From that moment on I was in love. Losing a Generation

The following was originally posted on Double Clutch.  It’s the story of Robert Maduri’s recent quest to purchase a supercar.

“Time.  Many people view it as an enemy, ready to snatch every person, thing and object at some point or another.  Others view time as a companion, making sure we cherish each moment.

I view time as a constant, something you can use to learn from and adapt.  History has a tendency to repeat itself.  The foolish are the ones who feel the rules no longer apply to them.

One lesson learned, most successful businesses eventually fail.  The most unstoppable juggernauts come to a halt.  Empires fall.  It’s a natural progression in life.

Arrogance can be one of your biggest faults in this battle.  And trust me, business can be an intense battle.

I consider myself to be a moderately successful guy.  I purchased my first Ferrari for my 27th birthday.  Many would consider that a pretty young age to achieve that status.
